Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Dustin grew up listening to his mother sing and his father play the guitar. In high school, Dustin toured the country with various Christian ministry groups and served his local community as a worship team leader for his church.
In college, Dustin studied both jazz and classical music under various instructors at Pacific Lutheran University. By the age of 21, Dustin was a private instructor on the PLU student-staff list and had amassed over 40 students.
In 2002, Dustin was selected as a national finalist in Guitar Center’s “Guitarmageddon” competition for the best up-and-coming guitarist signified with a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. This notoriety helped launch his career as a professional musician.
Dustin also brings an impressive resume of live and/or studio experience with national artists including Kelly Clarkson, Andy Grammer, Kirk Franklin, Allen Stone, Fitz and the Tantrums, Ernie Halter, Tony Lucca, Crystal Aikin, Jaime Jamgochian, Kid Sensation, The Seattle Seahawks, and more… Most notably, Dustin’s band (The BGP) was featured on America’s Got Talent (Season 6 — 2011) on NBC primetime with roughly 22 million viewers.
Dustin was also heavily involved with music and production at two of the northwest’s largest churches where he discovered a true love for pastoral leadership in the local church.
Prior to moving his family to Phoenix, Arizona, Dustin spent 15 years building Winfield Music, a private lessons school where he taught a variety of musical instruments to students of all ages and skill levels. As the founder and chief instructor, he spent over 50 hours a week interacting with students and building lesson plans to encourage and facilitate the musical growth of his students. He continues to teach students using a new platform of Private Video Lessons Online.
Today, Dustin is the Worship Pastor at The Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. He and his wife Trina live in North Phoenix with their three children.
